Sunday Funday

9:00 So Jarrett has been on this "Ultimate Grilled Cheese" kick recently. Sunday morning he decided to make a French Toast Grilled Cheese aka a heart attack in sandwich form. Breaking it down it was a slice of french toast, cheese, egg, french toast, cheese, bacon, french toast. Let me just say I couldn't eat even half of it & thankfully I didn't. It was like 3 breakfasts in 1.

12:00 My brother Kilian & I decided to head to Norvin Green State Forest with Jasper for a little hiking trip. Unfortunately we didn't take into account that it would be atleast 5 degrees colder & it was actually snowing heavily by the time we got there. Needless to say Jasper was not a happy camper. He froze up within 4 minutes & wouldn't move his hind legs. The poor guy, I picked him up and we drove all the way home feeling very unaccomplished & 20 dollars poorer having bought "hiking snacks". Hahah! Here's the Jasper in his oversized sweater looking PO'd...

5:00 Once I got home I signed up for the Dollar Shave Club for Jarrett as a partial Vday gift. The idea is that they initially send you a full shaver of your choice based on if you pay $1, $6, or $9/month then every month they send you a new head. I'll keep you all posted on how that turns out!

8:30 I caught up on some tv shows including Pretty Little Liars (don't laugh) & this one scene totally caught my eye. One of the characters (Hannah) is going through a break up & her mother brings her to this place where you get an endless stack of plates you can throw at a wall. How simply genius is that? I know I'd be there every other week, hell I'm sure it'd put a lotta yoga studios out of business...

9:00 And little goober is OUT. And my lazy day off has me close to knocked out as well. It sure is tiring doing nothing sometimes...

My two style goals for this year are to:

Find a balance between comfort and style when putting together outfits
&
To buy more staple pieces instead of many basic pieces

I've noticed as I look at my closet there are a lot of clothes I bought on a whim, not necessarily something I'd actually want if I thought about it. I'm hoping the more I catalogue my own outfits & styles I like, the easier it'll be to build a wardrobe I actually like!

Holiday Tree

Friday, January 24, 2014

So my boss didn't feel like putting away the fake christmas tree so we came up with the brilliant idea of making it into a holiday tree. Hence transformation... Valentine's Day Tree! I think we did pretty good for the $10 budget...

Weekend Inspiration

Alex Honnold is a rock climber whose been called "the greatest free solo climber" by many. Free solo climbing is climbing without ropes, harnesses, or any protective gear. All you have to rely on is your strength, endurance, & a small container of chalk for gripping. Alex lives out of his van, following good weather, conquering rocks one at a time. He also hikes & runs in his spare time.

I spent a majority of my afternoon between clients at work watching videos of him climb on Youtube, my heart racing the whole time. This guy is ridiculously awesome. And though at first you might think "Why put yourself in that kind of danger?" One wrong move, one muscle cramp, one anything & he falls right off the mountain. Well there is the adrenaline rush right? But I don't think he does it solely for the adrenaline, in fact in a video he said something along the lines of, "If for a moment I feel adrenaline then I know something is going horribly wrong." I think there is a calming & humbling factor in taking on nature in this way.

What he does requires 100% focus, concentration, & awareness of what's going on around him & that's the most impressive part. It's clear he lives to climb, to take on these mountains solely with himself.

But seriously go look him up on youtube. And then the next day you have a day off try to climb your nearest mountain. Just kidding but why not look up an indoor rock climbing facility, go on that hike you've always considered taking, or try trail running or biking.

A Short Trip to Switzerland

As usual my trip to Europe was filled with ridiculous amounts
